As part of my final year degree, I was required to participate in the design of a VSTOL aircraft, acting in the capacity of performance and propulsion engineer. In this role, my tasks involved analysing mission profiles, and selecting suitable engines and producing estimates of aircraft performance as a result. This year I wrote a report as a requirement of completing my degree. It was entitled “A comparison of techniques for the analysis of chaotic data”, involving an in-depth study of chaotic systems using comparative fractal geometry. I used MATLAB extensively to generate chaotic data and subsequently practice quantification methods.
